Dear Marquette students,

On the verge of spring break 2015, here are three thoughts:

First, congratulations on navigating your midterms. From conversations I’ve had with many students, I know your stress level has been high for the past few weeks. Thank you for staying focused!

Second, I’m sending my best wishes for safe travels wherever you may be going during the next 10 days. At this week’s Tuesday night Mass, I was more than a little humbled to hear that about one-third of attending students said their spring break plans included a service project somewhere in the world. It’s just another example of how you, our students, are responding to Marquette’s call to dedicate yourselves to serving others and entering the struggle for a more just society.

Finally, when you return from spring break, please consider joining me for lunch. I’ve learned a great deal from so many of you during my first year at Marquette.

My March 4 student lunch guests

I have only a few lunch dates remaining before the school year ends and welcome an opportunity to sit down with you — especially if you have good discussion topics to suggest. Please fill out this form to be considered for a future lunch with me and a few other students.

Happy spring break!

Best,

Dr. Michael R. Lovell
