Thomas MacKinnon is the chief of staff to the president of Marquette University and interim vice president for University Advancement.
Tom is part of Father Pilarz’s leadership team, assisting in the planning and implementation of both long and short term goals, as well as the execution of daily management priorities.
Prior to coming to Marquette, Tom served as the chief of staff to Father Pilarz at The University of Scranton for two years, and as associate vice president and executive director of Scranton’s Pride, Passion, Promise Campaign for three years. Tom previously served as senior consultant and vice president of Community Counseling Service (CCS), an international fundraising and not for profit management consultancy headquartered in New York City. He also served as director of alumni and publication relations for his alma mater, Canisius High School, Buffalo, N.Y.
He served as an administrator, teacher and project coordinator at the Working Boys Center, a Jesuit-run family development facility in Quito, Ecuador. MacKinnon earned a bachelor's degree in English literature from Fordham University and is a native of Buffalo, N.Y.
