Cynthia M. Bauer, Vice President & General Counsel Cynthia Bauer, Arts '79, Law '83, is the vice president and general counsel of Marquette University.

Reporting to the senior vice president, Bauer is responsible for the handling and oversight of all legal matters relating to the university and has supervisory responsibility for Human Resources and Risk Management and Internal Audit.

Bauer joined Marquette in 1991 as associate general counsel, was promoted to general counsel in 1994, and was appointed vice president in 1998. She was elected assistant secretary of the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2003 after serving as secretary from 2000 to 2003.
