Ned W. Bechthold, P.E., was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 1997.

He is chairman of Payne & Dolan, Inc., in Waukesha, Wis. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1959.

His list of honors includes University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering Distinguished Service Award, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee Most Valuable Person Award, COA (Children’s Outing Association) Parents of the Year, a recipient of the Milwaukee Foundation Frank Kirkpatrick Award, and 1998 Distinguished Citizen for the Potawatomi Are and Milwaukee County Councils Boy Scouts of America.

He serves as a trustee on the board of the Siebert Foundation of Milwaukee and as a board member for the Bradley Center Sports and Entertainment Corporation.

He is a member of the Marquette University 1881 Society.
