Rebecca
C. Anderson, Grad ’88
Rebecca
Cogwell Anderson, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist and educator,
credits Marquette University with providing her the education
and training necessary to achieve personal and professional success. “Being
a Marquette graduate is one of my most prized academic accomplishments,” she
says.
Now, Rebecca provides education and training to
others. She is currently a professor of psychology and director
of psychological services in the division of transplant surgery
and associate director of surgical education at the Medical
College of Wisconsin.
For the past 15 years, Rebecca has been active
in Marquette’s counseling psychology program as an adjunct
faculty member, and on dissertation and doctoral qualifying examination
committees. Many Marquette students have had the opportunity
to participate in practicum and internships at the Medical College
under her direction.
Rebecca’s professional career
includes consulting for the U.S. FDA Center for Devices and Radiological
Health and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. She is also
on the After Breast Cancer Diagnosis medical and community advisory
board and is a member of the research agenda for the Breast Implant
Public Health Project.
An international speaker and author
of numerous studies, books and publications, Rebecca has addressed
a wide range of issues including wellness programs, media coverage
of silicone implants and adjustment issues following the diagnosis
of breast cancer.
She is also the recipient of many awards,
including the Outstanding Women in America Award.
