Shawn
M. Eichorst, Law '95
Shawn
M. Eichorst will return to his home state of Wisconsin in April
to join University of Wisconsin Athletics Director Barry Alvarez’s
senior administrative staff as a senior associate athletic director.
The state’s flagship university will benefit from having
a Marquette graduate with Shawn’s breadth of experience,
accomplishment and passion for sports contributing to the administration
of its athletics programming.
During the past three years
Shawn has served as senior associate athletics director for
administration at the University of South Carolina, where he
was the chief administrative
officer in the Gamecocks’ athletics department. In that
role, he oversaw the football and baseball programs, human resources,
contractual matters, trademark and licensing, facilities, sports
medicine, and the strength and conditioning programs.
Prior
to working at the University of South Carolina, Shawn served
as the director of athletics at his alma mater, the University
of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where in four years he developed one
of the nation’s top Division III athletics programs. Under
his leadership, Whitewater posted four top-10-percent NACDA Directors’ Cup
finishes.
As a student-athlete, Shawn was an all-conference
defensive back, three-time letter winner and team captain of
the football team. He graduated magna cum laude in business
in 1990. Shawn is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin,
the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee and
serves on the executive committee of the Sports Management Institute.
He has maintained strong connections with the Law School, serving
both as an adjunct faculty member teaching classes in sports
law and as a member of the National Sports Law Institute Alumni
Board.
A native of Lone Rock, Wis., Shawn and his wife,
Kristin, have three sons: Jack, 6; Joseph, 3; and Bennett,
