Azad Hossain received a PhD degree in organometallic chemistry under the direction of Professor William A. Donaldson in 1992. He then joined the group of Professor Steven R. Angle as a post doctoral fellow at the University of California at Riverside. After two years at UCR, he spent another year as a post doc working with Dr. Vittorio Farina at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Ridgefield, Connecticut, where he worked on synthetic/mechanistic aspects of palladium catalyzed cross-coupling reactions.
Azad joined Abbott Laboratories in 1996 as a Research Chemist in the process R&D group. He was promoted to Senior Research Chemist in 2000. Currently he is involved in the development of new processes for the syntheses of new drug candidates in the Global Pharmaceuticals R&D division. Azad is married and a proud father of two sons and a daughter.
