Sacristans
Sacristans assist in the immediate preparation of the materials needed for a Mass. Generally, these people have a particular Mass or Masses at which they serve on a regular basis. Before Mass, sacristans are present to help coordinate liturgical ministers, make sure all the necessary materials are present, and answer any questions that might arise. These individuals hold paid positions from Campus Ministry. For more information, please contact Timothy Johnston.
Liturgy Preparation Team
The Liturgy Preparation (Lit Prep) Team meets with the Liturgy Director on a weekly basis and help shape Liturgy at Marquette in the following ways:
- The foundation of any preparation of the liturgical celebration begins with a reflection upon the Word of God. Lit Prep members bring their own life experiences to this reflection, helping to answer the question: "How do these readings connect to our daily lives?" The notes from their reflections are sent to the weekly presiders for their consideration as they prepare their homilies.
- The Lit Prep team also discusses our weekly Masses and identifies ways in which we can help enhance the prayer that happens at Mass. They pay close attention to what may distract worshippers from the focus of the liturgy.
- This group meets seasonally with the Music Ministry Team to coordinate the themes and prayers for our Liturgical Seasons. This joint meeting helps identify ways in which Campus Ministry can support and encourage additional prayer opportunities.
