When and where are auditions?
Auditions are held the first week of classes in the Chapel of the Holy
Family, located on the second floor of the Alumni Memorial Union.
Students may also audition for the spring semester during final exams
week in December.
How do I sign up for an audition?
For the fall semester, sign up for an audition time the first week of
classes in Campus Ministry, AMU 236. Those wishing to audition for
spring semester should set up an audition with the director by
appointment during final exams week in December.
What does the audition process entail?
Auditions are held on an individual basis with the director. You do not
need to prepare a piece to sing. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to
your audition to fill out an audition form.
Auditions include:
- Vocal exercises/warm-up
- Pitch memory exercise
- Singing "Amazing Grace" or "My Country Tis of Thee" a cappella (text provided)
- Sight-reading an SATB hymn accompanied by the piano.
What if I’ve never sung in a choir before?
Liturgical Choir is composed of members from various musical
backgrounds. Whether you have never sung in a choir, or you have been
singing in choirs since childhood, this choir is for you!
What if I’m not Catholic?
All faith traditions are welcome! Students of varying religious
backgrounds have sung in the choir including students of the Lutheran,
Non-denominational, and Jewish traditions.
