I worked as a reporter and editor at the Tribune for most of my time at Marquette. In 2003, I talked my way into joining a group of dental students following Marquette to the Final Four in New Orleans. We ran our van out of gas on the way there and the way back, while I took notes and photos on the road and figured out how to put together a long story on the fly. The game left something to be desired, but the assignment – like all my J-school experiences – left me thinking I had more than one shining reporting moment in me.
