HOW DO I APPLY?

Here's what you should do:

  1. Get an application from your high school or download it.
  2. Fill out the application.
  3. Provide a transcript of your high school work.
  4. Write a 150-word essay explaining your interest in the workshop.
  5. Provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher.
  6. Send along any writing samples, including news stories, term papers or short stories.
  7. Fill out a form from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction if you receive free or reduced lunch. This form is important.
  8. Await word from the workshop board on whether you've been accepted. You should hear from the board by the end of May.

 

Urban Journalism Workshop Fee $350

  • Scholarships available for Wisconsin students who meet the Department of Public Instruction income eligibility guidelines.
