What Can I Do With This Major?:  This website helps you connect majors to possible careers and includes web-links to additional information.

Occupational Outlook Handbook:  This is an internet version of the book which is revised every two years. Over 250 occupations are described covering about 85% of all workers. Information includes career descriptions, required skills, working conditions, employment outlook, training and advancement, earnings, related occupations and more.

O*NET: Occupational Information Network: An up-to-date information source on over 12,000 careers. Provides cross-reference information to other career resources. Also includes a skills search.

Researching Academic Majors

Career Self-Assessment Tools:

DISCOVER contains a self-assessment component designed to help students identify their career-relevant interests, abilities, and values. The program organizes occupations into six clusters, parallel to Holland's Hexagon, to help users focus on preparing for career options that fit them best.

Type Focus: A free personality assessment. Understanding your type can help you understand which jobs and work environments might provide you with the best fit.

Informational Interviewing:

MU Connect:  A service that allows you to connect with Marquette University alumni to network and conduct informational interviews.

Through the DISCOVER program users can also learn how to develop good job-seeking skills through effective resumes, cover letters, job applications, and interview skills.
