Employer Speakers and Contacts
We assist faculty and student organizations in identifying employers speakers, panelists or corporate presenters. These speakers are often MU Alumni. We can provide employer contacts that may lead to candidates for advisory boards, co-op and internship opportunities for your students, and fund raising prospects. Students can search for jobs using any of our online resources. We also can provide Career Guides for you to give to students.
Ideas for your syllabus
- Include upcoming career events on your syllabus
- Offer extra credit or alternatives to missing classes for attendance at one of our monthly career events called On the Road to Your Career.
- Invite a panel of career professionals in to speak about career or occupational issues.
- Schedule a presentation on a variety of career-related topics.
- Create assignments or experiences that allow for the exploration of a field of study
- The development of a resume and cover letter to help students clarify career goals. Research papers on what careers result from a particular major
- Assign informational interviews or job shadowing experiences, students can connect with professionals in their fields of interest
- Allow students to attend career fairs and internship fairs
- Announce internship and full-time positions openings found on MU Career Manager
- Talk about internships and your departments options for credit for internships which provides opportunities for students to acquire professional work experience related to their academic majors or areas of career interest.

- Invite alumni you know to join LinkedIn and the Marquette Alumni Association Group

Referring students to the Career Services Center
Departmental faculty and academic advisors are our second most frequent source of referrals for students for our services (students are our first!). We appreciate your referrals.
- Walk-in services: Suggested for first time users or students with "quick" questions, brief resume review, etc. Hours change each semester.
- Direct referral to professional staff. Individual career counseling appointments can be made by calling 414-288-7423. We are all generalists with the ability to help all students and alumni regarding career assistance. Staff profiles are available.
