Since your graduation from MU, what has been your career path?
I worked for 9 months at a public affairs firm in Chicago, before joining the Joffrey Ballet development staff.
Describe your typical workday.
I really don't have a typical workday! My typical work week includes phone calls and in person meetings with members of the Joffrey's 150-member Women's Board. We work to develop the organizations membership, programming opportunities and special event fundraisers.
What is the best or most exciting part of your profession?
The opportunity to work for a world-class ballet company and in cooperation with so many people who care deeply about the company's contribution to the arts, cultural and education in Chicago.
What advice would you provide for a job seeker in your field?
Think deeply about what really moves your heart. It is amazingly rewarding to sit in the audience during a performance and think that we had some part in bringing that human experience to the stage.
What are essential skills one must possess for success in your field?
Ability to be creative, detail-oriented, and people-oriented.
What can a current Marquette student do to effectively prepare for a career in your field?
Learn as much as possible about business!
