Desire2Learn offers several options for releasing course content to students under certain conditions, including the option of hiding your course content to all users. You can release course content based on availability date, group membership, quiz grades or completion, survey completion, and checklist completion. In addition, you can modify these release conditions for your content.
NOTE: The Hide option should only be used to manually hide content from all students. Use this option if you have not yet decided when or to whom your content should be released. Using the Hide option will override all other conditions you have set for your content.
This option allows you to release content only after and/or until a specified date.
This option allows you to release content only to specific groups of students in your course. For more information, refer to Working with Groups: Additional Options.
This option allows you to release content only to students who have completed a specified quiz in your course. You also have the option of releasing content only to students who have obtained a minimum or maximum quiz grade that you choose. For more information about quizzes, refer to Quizzing: Process Overview.
This option allows you to release content only to students who have completed a specified survey in your course. In addition, you can elect to release content to students who have attempted but not necessarily completed a survey.
This option allows you to release content only to students who have completed a specified checklist in your course.
This section explains how to release content to students based on dates you choose. If the release conditions are set on the module, all topics within that module are affected.
From the Course Home page, click CONTENT.
The MANAGE CONTENT window opens.
For the appropriate topic or module, click EDIT TOPIC.
The Edit Topic dialog box appears.
Select the Restrictions tab.
In the Availability section, using the pull-down menus, select a starting date and time.
OR
Do not check TOPIC IS AVAILABLE STARTING.
In the Availability section, using the pull-down menus, select an ending date and time.
OR
Do not check TOPIC IS AVAILABLE UNTIL.
Click SAVE.
This section explains how to release content to students based on the various release conditions described in the previous section.
From the Course Home page, click CONTENT.
The MANAGE CONTENT window opens.
For the appropriate topic or module, click EDIT TOPIC.
The Edit Topic dialog box appears.
Select the Restrictions tab.
Under Release Conditions, click ATTACH EXISTING.
The Attach Existing Conditions dialog box appears.
Click CREATE AND ATTACH .
The Create a New Release Condition dialog box appears.
From the Select Condition Type pull-down list, select the appropriate condition.
The dialog box is refreshed.
From the new pull-down list that appears, select the name of the group, quiz, survey, or checklist.
The dialog box is refreshed.
NOTE: If you are releasing content based on a minimum or maximum quiz grade, in the Minimum Grade or Maximum Grade text box, type the minimum grade as a percent.
In the Create a New Release Condition dialog box, click SAVE.
In the Edit Topic dialog box, click SAVE.
Click CLOSE.
In the Content Manager dialog box, content with additional release conditions bear this icon .
From the Course Home page, click CONTENT.
The Manage Content dialog box appears.
For the appropriate topic or module, click EDIT TOPIC.
The Edit Topic dialog box appears.
Select the Restrictions tab.
For the condition you want to remove, click REMOVE THIS CONDITION.
OR
To remove all conditions, click REMOVE ALL CONDITIONS.
Click SAVE.
Click CLOSE.
