Gradebook: Process Overviewfor faculty

This table shows the process for establishing and maintaining a gradebook within Desire2Learn, including those aspects which are unique to Desire2Learn.

Phase I:
Grades Setup

Phase II:
Create Categories

  • Use categories to group items if using a points grading system (optional)
  • Use categories to weight items if using a weighted calculation system

Phase III: 
Create Gradebook Items

  • Select a gradebook item type
  • Assign gradebook item to a category
  • Assign points
  • Determine whether the item is a bonus item or contains extra credit
  • Assign a grading scheme if not using the default

Phase IV: 
Maintain Your Gradebook

  • Modify grade items / categories
  • Grade certain items manually
  • Change grades
  • Delete grades
  • Export your grades for backup

Phase V: 
Final Grades

  • Work with calculated grade items
  • Work with the final grades
