Linking to a Discussion in Course Contentfor faculty

Desire2Learn allows you to link discussions right to a course content area. This allows users to easily discuss the topic with just one click, instead of having to backtrack to the discussion area to access the discussion.

NOTE: These instructions assume that the discussion topic has been created.

  1. From the Course Home page, on the Navigation bar, click CONTENT.
    The Manage Content page appears.

  2. In the appropriate topic area, click ADD TOPIC.

  3. The New Topic dialog box appears.
    Click Create New File.

  4.    Choose the Module where you want the link to appear.  Give the link a title.

  5. Click QUICKLINK. under Content in the text box.
    The Insert a QuickLink dialog box appears.

  6. From the Category pull-down list, select Discussions .
    Select a forum or topic     from Discussions.

  7. In the Link Caption text box, type the title of the topic.

  8. Click INSERT.

  9. Click SAVE.
    The link now appears in the Content area. When students click it, they will be taken directly to the discussion.
