Getting Started in Desire2Learn (D2L) 
Desire2Learn offers many features and options for creating online courses and learning experiences. To get started with D2L, you will need to know the following basics:
Connecting to Desire2Learn
As part of a course management system, D2L courses require that you login.
1. Open your browser
2. Go to: http://d2l.mu.edu.
HINT: Bookmark this URL.
OR
From the Marquette CheckMarq Start page, select D2L Learning.
The Welcome screen and Login dialog box appear.
3. In the Username text box, type your CheckMarq username.
4. In the Password text box, type your password.
5. Click LOGIN. The following warning appears.
6. Click Yes. The My Home page appears.
7. In the My Marquette University Courses widget, select the appropriate course.
The Course Home page opens.
Logging Out
From any page, on the Navigation bar, click LOGOUT on the far right.
You are returned to the Welcome screen. It is not necessary to exit the browser.
About My Home
The My Home page is your gateway to the courses you are teaching and/or taking. News items include important D2L-related news and announcements. Your courses are located in the My Marquette University Courses widget and are organized by term. To view a specific course:
1. Click + next to the appropriate term to display all courses for that term.
2. Click + next to the department offering the course.
3. Click on the course name to open it.
About Course Home
By clicking a course name, you will go to the homepage for that course. The Course Home page starts with a display of current news. The Navigation bar contains links to the different elements of the course. Links related to the specific course you are viewing appear just above the course (Course Home, Content, Discussions, ...) Links related to D2L in general are at the top of the screen (My Home, Locker, Schedule, Discussions ...).
