Dr. Francisco Alencar Jr. published in the Journal of Craniomandibular Practice
Dr. Francisco Alencar Jr.'s article, "Different Substances and Dry-Needling Injections in Patients With Myofascial Pain and Headaches," was published in April 2008. Another of his articles, "Botox, Lidocaine and Dry-Needling Injections Patients With Myofascial Pain and Associated Headaches," has been accepted for publication and will appear in the next issue of the Journal of Craniomandibular Practice.

Underwater Photography Underwater Photography by Dianne Morris Stunning underwater images by scuba diving enthusiast Dianne Morris are now on display at the Dental School on the second level, near Clinic C. In describing her love for the marine world and her inspiration to take up photography, Morris explains, "There are critters and creatures beyond the imagination and a tremendous variety of beautiful and unusual fish...I had never been much of a photographer before, but I found myself with an incredible desire to capture and share with others images of what I was seeing underwater."

Dr. Daniel Domagala - Tylman Research Grant Dr. Daniel Domagala, a 3rd year resident in the Advanced Education in Prosthodontics program, received a Tylman Research Grant in support of his thesis project “The Accuracy Of Multi-implant Casts Fabricated Using A Segmental Framework Matrix.” The grant is made available by The American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics on a competitive basis. Dr. Gerald Ziebert has been Dan’s thesis advisor.

Dr. Jadwiga Hjertstedt - Marvin Wagner M.D. Preceptor Award
Dr. Jadwiga Hjerstedt, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department ofClinical Services, received the 2008 Marvin Wagner M.D. Preceptor Award from the Society of Teaching Scholars of Medical College of Wisconsin. The award, established in 1998, recognizes volunteer clinical faculty who demonstrate outstanding commitment to the education of students, fellows, or residents at MCW.

Elise Poremski - Student Research Award Elise Poremski, (D4), won the Student Research Award from the American College of Dentists for her research into the amount of floride that should be given to children.
The American College of Dentists was founded August 20, 1920, to elevate the standards of dentistry, to encourage graduate study, and to grant Fellowship to those who have done meritorious work.

Thriller at Miller '08 The Village at Manor Park’s "A Grand Day with the Brewers and the THRILLER AT MILLER" is an exhibition game by a men's senior softball league and followed by the Marquette Dental School battling the Medical College of Wisconsin for the Caduceus Trophy. Bryan, Clinical Assistant Professor Surgical Sciences-Periodontics, has written a textbook chapter, “Root Morphology and Instrumentation Implications” in Dental Hygiene Theory and Practice. This text is one of two comprehensive texts that are used by nearly all dental hygiene programs in the United States. |

Dr. Seokwoo Lee - Awards from the AAE Foundation. Dr. Seokwoo Lee has received awards from the AAE Foundation. Dr. Lee was awarded a research grant in support of his proposal: "Identification of Virulence Factors of Enterococcus Faecalis." He also received an award for submitting a high-caliber research grant proposal that exemplifies the protocol the Research and Scientific Affairs Committee looks for in each proposal. His proposal received the top ranking score of all non-resident applicants. |
