The following alumni will be honored at the College of Education Awards Conferral and Reception on Thursday, April 25, 2013 in the Henke Lounge at the Alumni Memorial Union. The event is part of the university-wide Alumni National Awards Weekend, a celebration honoring alumni from every college who represent the heart, soul, and spirit of Marquette.

Distinguished Alumna of the Year AwardDR. JANICE E. JACKSON, ARTS '75 Taught by her father to respect the wisdom of children, Janice took that to heart, from her first job as a middle school teacher in Milwaukee to her current role as executive director of the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education. Previously, she worked at Harvard and Boston College, along with stints in the U.S. Department of Education and large urban school districts. She serves on several boards for national education organizations. |

Educational Policy and Leadership Achievement AwardDR. EILEEN MIHM SCHWALBACH, ARTS '72 Eileen was named president of Mount Mary College in 2009. She began her career at the school in 1993 as a part-time teacher in the English Department. Before that, she was a teacher in the Milwaukee public school system for 25 years, living out a dream she’d had since third grade. She has written a book, Value and Validity in Action Research: A Guidebook for Reflective Practitioners. |

Young Alumna of the Year AwardDR. JESSICA THULL BRUNDAGE, GRAD '05, '09 As a psychologist on the spinal cord injury unit at the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Jessica considers it an honor to support veterans in their time of need. She counsels veterans and their families who are coping with the challenges associated with spinal cord injuries: adjustment, stress, health behavior change, mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and grief and loss.
