Michael Martinez Awarded ASCA Scholarship

Released: 1/9/08

Congratulations go to Michael Martinez, graduate student in Counseling & Educational Psychology, for being awarded one of ten scholarships by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).

This is the third consecutive year that at least one Counseling student from Marquette has been an ASCA scholarship recipient. Four COEP students have been recipients of the scholarship since its inception in 2004, establishing Marquette as the home to more ASCA award winners than any other program in the country.

The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) awards up to ten $1,000 scholarships annually to students currently enrolled in master's level school counseling programs. One of the goals of the scholarship program, which is sponsored by Anheuser Busch and the ASCA Foundation, is to encourage minority students and males to enter the school counseling profession.
