Admissions

The first step in the admissions process is the request of a transcript analysis. For information about this process, please contact Kristen Moehle at kristen.moehle@marquette.edu.
AFTER a transcript analysis has been completed, you can use the following checklist of requirements to proceed with your application to the program. Please note, all items with an asterisk MUST BE completed before formal admission to the Graduate School.
- *BA or BS degree with a major in one of the following areas:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Economics
- English
- Foreign Language
- History
- Journalism
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Speech Communication
- *MINIMUM CUMULATIVE QPA/GPA of 2.75 for licensure (a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for admission to the master’s program)
- *MINIMUM QPA/GPA of 2.75 in major area(s) of certification
- *Satisfactory scores on the Praxis I: Academic Skills Assessments as approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. (PRAXIS I Scores must be sent to Marquette University School of Education, ATTN: Susan Stang)
- Satisfactory scores on the Praxis II: Subject Assessments as approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. (The Praxis II MUST be completed before the end of the first semester of coursework; scores MUST be sent to the College of Education)
- Formal Application to the Marquette University Graduate School. (Individuals may obtain application packet by contacting the Graduate School at (414) 288-7137. Paperless application can also be made online at http://app.applyyourself.com/?id=marq-grad) You will apply as either a Certificate (CERT) student or Master of Education (MED) student with a specialization in Secondary Education (SEED) or Elementary Education (ELED).
Application to the Graduate School should include:
- Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions (except Marquette) including evidence of satisfactory completion of course work in areas of academic deficiency, if deficiencies are indicated.
- Statement of purpose and academic goals to the Marquette University College of Education.
- Three (3) letters of recommendation.
- Interview conducted by the department representative(s) (optional).
- GRE scores (only if applying for the M.Ed. program)
Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a complete, self-assembled application packet of all application materials, other than test scores (GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, etc.). For more information, visit http://www.grad.mu.edu/future/req4.shtml
Please note the following application deadlines. Completed files should arrive at the Graduate school on or before:
April 15 (for summer admission)
July 15 (for fall admission)
November 15 (for spring admission)
You will be required to attend a mandatory orientation session after being admitted, but prior to your registration for classes.
