Master's in Educational Psychology
*Educational Psychology. We are not accepting applications for the Masters in Educational Psychology for the 2009-10 academic year. This is only for the Educational Psychology Masters Program. We are accepting applications for all other programs.
Our Master’s in Educational Psychology Program prepares educators, researchers, and others seeking training in learning processes, psychosocial development, and conducting educational and psychological research. This program helps prepare students for careers in education, training and professional development, and program evaluation for work in a variety of settings including private and public schools, colleges and universities, research centers, and business and industry.
This program, like the others in our department, emphasizes a comprehensive biopsychosocial approach to understanding human development, as well as thorough preparation for professional practice. In addition to a core curriculum in educational psychology foundations, elective coursework is chosen in consultation with an advisor in order to tailor one’s program to meet the educational and career goals of the student.
The Master of Arts (M.A.) degree program in educational psychology requires a minimum of 30 credit hours and successful completion of a comprehensive examination. Completing a thesis is optional for this degree - students planning on going on for a doctoral degree often will complete a thesis to increase their chances of getting into a Ph.D. program.
