Marquette University is conveniently located in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin – the City of Festivals, and the nation’s 17th-largest city. Milwaukee is a convergence of cultures and a mixture of modern city life and old-world charm. It’s a big city with a small town attitude. And when you visit the Marquette University campus, you’re guaranteed to like what you see.

With Lake Michigan only a mile to the east, many of Milwaukee’s cultural offerings are within walking distance from the Marquette campus. A ten-minute stroll takes you to Milwaukee’s theater district, where you might see “Swan Lake” or a production of “The Phantom of the Opera.” Also nearby is the newly renovated Milwaukee Art Museum, which PEOPLE magazine named among three “New American Beauties.” The Museum is referred to as “Jetsonesque” and “the city’s instant tourist attraction.”

For sports fans, the Bradley Center, home of Marquette Golden Eagles and Milwaukee Bucks basketball, as well as many concerts throughout the year, is only eight blocks away from campus. If you are a baseball fan, the Milwaukee Brewers are only a ten-minute bus ride away.

They don’t call Milwaukee the “City of Festivals” for no reason. When summer rolls around, the city comes alive with countless celebrations, the largest of which is Summerfest. Summerfest is exactly what its name implies: a huge two-week-long music festival featuring an amazing lineup of world famous musicians representing almost every genre.
