Dr. Louis Birchbauer Joins Marquette SOE

The School of Education is pleased to welcome Dr. Louis Birchbauer, former Superintendent of Greenfield School District, to our faculty. Dr. Birchbauer, who joined the SOE this fall, will be serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Graduate Recruiter for programs in Educational Policy and Leadership.

Birchbauer, who has dedicated 35 years to working with Wisconsin public school districts, was selected to provide outreach to regional school districts and district administrators, generate applicant leads, and assist the School in a variety of other recruitment efforts. He will also teach courses in the superintendent licensure program.

Dr. Birchbauer is co-founder of Administrative Leadership Solutions, LLC, an independent consulting firm specializing in providing school districts with insight and strategies for defining and strengthening district leadership. He is also a Search Services Consultant for the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) Superintendent Search Service. His background includes undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, as well as a doctoral degree and licensure from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Besides his work at Greenfield, he has served as a superintendent for other school districts, including Cambria-Friesland, Mosinee, and Germantown.

Lou is the father of two children and grandfather to two boys.  He currently resides in Greenfield with Marilyn, his wife of 35 years.
