On Wednesday, August 28, Dr. Kathleen Cepelka, Associate Dean of the College of Education and representative for the Greater Milwaukee Catholic Education Consortium (GMCEC), presented an inservice for the newly formed Fond du Lac Catholic School System.
Over 100 faculty and staff members attended the inservice, the theme of which was Catholic Identity. Dr. Cepelka focused her presentation on the integration of faith and culture, which is central to the synthesis of faith and life. She focused not only on the academic nature of schools, but also on the elements of community, worship, and service, encouraging teachers to "teach as Jesus did."
The Greater Milwaukee Catholic Education Consortium is a collaboration between Marquette University, Alverno College, Cardinal Stritch University, Mt. Mary College, and Marian College. The GMCEC will strive to marshal the academic resources and professional expertise of the Catholic higher education institutions in order to build enduring connections that strengthen and sustain quality P-16 Catholic education.
