Dr. Lisa Edwards Chosen as Keynote for Anti-racist Anti-bias Teaching Conference

Dr. Lisa Edwards, Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology, has been chosen as the keynote speaker for the upcoming Anti-Racist Anti-Bias Teaching Conference sponsored by The Educator's Network for Social Justice.  Dr. Edwards' research focuses on positive functioning and well-being among racial/ethnic minorities in the USA. She will be speaking on "Identifying and Nurturing Cultural Strengths: An Important Piece of Anti-Racist/Anti-Bias Education."

The one day conference, which will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 8a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Indian Community School in Franklin, Wisconsin will feature a variety of 50-minute hands-on workshops focusing on race and bias at all levels of schooling.

The Educator's Network for Social Justice is a network of practicing educators from Milwaukee area schools including pre-service teachers, classroom teachers, and post-secondary educators.
