This research integrates human psychophysics, functional imaging and biologically constrained modeling to investigate the neural representation of visual information for perception and action in the human brain, particularly as it relates to navigation and 3-D spatial representation. Interests in functional imaging involve finding new approaches to more directly probe the neural and cortical circuits underlying these processes. The goal is to 1) link visually guided behavior, and its modification through training, to specific neural and cortical circuits in the human brain and 2) to apply this knowledge to the development of clinically useful neuro-rehabilitation strategies and neural control systems.
