Join us September 14 or October 12 to discover Marquette University. We’ve designed this special open house program to provide you with a feeling for what life at Marquette is like. While you visit, you’ll explore a great campus in a great city, identify your academic interests, meet faculty and current students and learn what it takes to be admitted to Marquette University. NEW PROGRAM!
Physical Science & Engineering Preofessional Development Workshop
for K-8 Teachers
October 25, 2008, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm or
March 28, 2009, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

In this new professional development workshop, participants will learn how to teach hands-on lessons in physical
science using engineering problem-solving activities. Participants will make bridges and towers, hovercraft, airpowered
rockets, simple circuits and more. They will crash-test egg cars, explore center of gravity, and understand
how satellites stay in orbit. In addition, teachers will explore the science and math of aerospace, make and take math
manipulative puzzles, and develop math and science inquiry problem-solving activities.
FIRST Robotics
FIRST is a national engineering contest that not only encourages engineering, science and technology but also promotes “gracious professionalism.”

Badger State Science Fair
This is the 3rd year that Marquette has held the BSSEF event and participation was up 250% from the previous year. The BSSEF is one of the states primary vehicles to motivate students to study science, technology, engineering and math. Click here for more information.

Rube Goldberg Machine Contest
The Rube Goldberg Machine Contest™© is named after the Pulitzer Prize winning artist Rube Goldberg whose inventions satirized new technologies. Students of all ages are participating in engineering, transforming everyday material into their own wacky and innovative machines. The Machine Contest allows your wild and ingenious inventions to be shown and provides a learning experience in engineering. Click here to learn more about the Wisconsin contest.
