Requirements from Start to Finish
- Register for classes every fall and spring semester, and summers as necessary, from the time you start until you graduate; this includes semesters after you have completed coursework
- Submit Doctoral Program Planning Form (DPPF); if significant changes occur after submitting the DPPF, submit a DPPF Amendment
- Complete all coursework
- Complete foreign language requirements
- Take and pass the Doctoral Qualifying Exam
- Submit Dissertation Proposal (if required by department)
- Submit Dissertation Outline and associated forms
- Satisfy doctoral residence requirements
- Register for graduation; be aware of graduation deadlines listed inside the back cover of the Graduate Bulletin
- Complete and submit forms to announce the public defense of your dissertation; defense must be publicly announced 30 days prior to the defense
- Complete and pass the Dissertation Defense
- Submit the approved dissertation, including approval forms and signature pages
- Complete the dissertation binding and copyright forms
