Learn about the historical, cultural and political facets of the African-American experience. Unlike programs at many other universities, Marquette's Africana Studies major emphasizes religious and spiritual dimensions. A strong complement to any major in the humanities and social sciences, this interdisciplinary major is also excellent preparation for law school or graduate school.
APPLIED MATHEMATICAL ECONOMICS MAJOR: mathematics and economics
Highly technical studies in micro- and macroeconomic analysis, comparative statistics, differential calculus, forecasting and econometric modeling prepare you for a career as an economist, actuary, analyst, consultant or any other professional field that relies upon mathematical forecasting and modeling.

AFRICANA STUDIES
Courses for junior and senior years are selected in consultation with your academic adviser from the following disciplines: anthropology, history, literature, philosophy, political science, sociology and theology.
APPLIED MATHEMATICAL ECONOMICS
Courses for junior and senior years are selected in consultation with your academic adviser and include 21 credit hours of economics and 21 credit hours of math.
ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION STUDIES
Work with your faculty adviser to select courses in communication and in your field of interest: business, economics and policy, education or health studies. The major requires 52 to 58 credits of course work divided among communication and your chosen focus area.
INTERDISCIPLINARY MINORS
- Catholic Studies - theology, philosophy, history and English
- Environmental Ethics - Reflect upon the ethical dimensions of environmental issues with studies in biology, economics, philosophy, physics, theology and other disciplines
- Ethics - a foundation in philosophy and theology with exploration of a range of real-life ethical issues
- Family Studies - a variety of courses in social-behavioral sciences and humanities focusing on the experience of family and its role in the lives of individuals and society
- Justice and Peace - Courses focusing on conceptualizing justice and peace, bridging social communities, promoting social and economic justice, and resolving violent conflict
- Medieval Studies - languages, literature, history, philosophy and theology
- Public History - select courses from several disciplines, including history, business and communication
- Urban Affairs - public finance and urban economics, urban politics and policy, urban anthropology, urban history (also available as a major)
- Urban and Environmental Affairs - similar to urban affairs, with the addition of natural science courses in physics, biology, chemistry and biochemistry (also available as a major)
