The Diederich College of Communication offers two distinct scholarship competitions. Students may register for either the general exam, the theatre audition day or may participate in both competitions.
College of Communication General Exam
The College of Communication examination assigns students an essay on a topic.
Pre-registration is now closed. Onsite registration will be available. Check-in Location: Alumni Memorial Union, 2nd Floor Rotunda, 8:00 am. Please see schedule of events for more details.
Theatre Audition Day
Students competing for the theatre scholarships participate in the Theatre Training and Audition Day with performing arts
faculty from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on February 15.
Theatre scholarship auditions, Select one
Acting and directing: Prepare two contrasting monologues, not to exceed
three minutes.
Singing and/or dancing: Prepare one monologue and one song (one verse)
and/or a choreographed piece, not to exceed one minute.
Theatre design, technical and management: Prepare for a portfolio review
and interview.
All participating students and their parents are invited to attend a special performance of A Doll's House, followed by a discussion with the cast and crew. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
Theatre students may participate in auditions Friday and the essay
competition Saturday.
