"Disillusionment: The Grit and Grace of Prophetic Hope"

Please join us as we welcome Sr. Rhea Emmer, CSA, D.Min., for her presentation on disillusionment and prophetic hope. Everywhere we turn these days, we seem to run into disillusionment. We hear it in the evening news; we meet it in social conversaitons; we see it in our friends and colleagues as they struggle with a helplessness and hopelessness - loss of credibility in education, healthcare and social services to meet the growing needs of ordinary people, especially those most vulnerable. The stalemate in Congress and ongoing Church politics are fueling apathy and disdain. Why are we so susceptible to these dynamics as highly educated, caring human beings? Is disillusionment the obstacle to realistic hope or could disillusionment itself, become a means to a deeper prophetic hope? This presentation will provide some insights into these questions and the panel of fellow Marquette faculty and staff which follows will open the conversation to the "grit" and "grace" of the reality

Our panel will include:

Dr. Kathy Coffey-Guenther,Associate Vice President, Mission and Ministry

Dr. Ed de St. Aubin, Associate Professor/Assistant Chair, Psychology

Dr. Kerry Egdorf, Adjunct Assistant Professor /Ombuds, Office of the Ombuds

Please join us as we welcome Sr. Rhea Emmer and your fellow Marquette colleagues!

Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius

The exercises are a pathway to recognizing God's activity in our deepest desires and growing in unity with God. Emerging from the experience of St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, the Exercises provide a structured opportunity to mature in spiritual freedom and make choices that are responsive to God's call in one's life.
