
Professor Hernández received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in 2004. He is the Coordinator of the First-Year Spanish Program. His teaching and research specializations include foreign language education and second language acquisition.
Professor Hernández has published articles on the relationship between motivation and student achievement in the intermediate foreign language classroom and on the role of form-focused instruction on the development of advanced-level language features.
His current research addresses the relationship between student motivation and interaction in shaping second language speaking performance in a study abroad context.
