“This is an important step forward as we continue to embrace diversity and enhance inclusivity within our campus community. The GSRC will encourage dialogue and growth around issues of gender and sexuality –
both as a university and as individuals,”
DR. WILLIAM WELBURN,
ASSOCIATE PROVOST FOR
DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
Under the direction of the Office of the Provost, the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center
provides a bridge space supporting scholarly work and educational programming on gender and sexuality. The GSRC fosters a campus climate in which the dignity of human beings and the diversity of gender identity and sexuality are respected and celebrated.
During its inaugural year of 2012-13, the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center will:
- House two faculty fellows who will engage in scholarly activities related to
gender and sexuality
- Provide bridge space between scholarly work and the lived experience of
gender and sexuality
- Support the Division of Student Affairs’ educational programming related
to gender, sexuality and sexual violence
- Serve as a resource for campus departments looking for education and/or
resources related to gender and sexuality
- Convene an advisory board of faculty, staff and students, appointed
by the provost and charged with establishing goals and direction for the center
