International students are required to purchase the student health insurance plan that is required by the Office of International Education. International students are billed for their insurance premiums by the Office of the Bursar in September, for the fall semester, and in January for the spring semester. It is the responsibility of the student to make payment arrangements with the Bursar for all charges billed to their account by the payment due date.
Credits from the Graduate School
In 2012-13, the Graduate School will offer a maximum of $664 to help offset the costs international students must pay for their health insurance policy. The $664 credit is the total amount for most full 10-month assistantships. Credits are applied directly to Bursar accounts by the Graduate School 2-3 weeks after classes begin. The fall portion of the credit will be given to students in mid- to late-September, and the spring portion of the credit will be given to students in late-January.
