Graduate Assistant Benefits and Discounts

Graduate assistants at Marquette University enjoy many benefits at Marquette University as well as discounts at local merchants.

Child Daycare

Child daycare services are available to all graduate students at discounted rates at the Krueger Parent and Child Center for children 6 weeks to 11 years. There may be waiting lists for certain age groups. For more information on waiting lists, rates or to obtain an application, please call (414) 288-5655.

Health and Recreation Centers

Graduate students are granted full, free access to both health and fitness facilities on campus: the Helfaer Recreation and Tennis Center and the Rec Plex. The centers offer indoor tennis, handball/racquetball, squash, basketball, badminton, volleyball courts, swimming pools, jogging tracks, fully equipped fitness/weight rooms, saunas, a pro shop and a fitness and assessment center. Identification Cards

The MarquetteCard is the official university identification card and provides students access to many services. Information regarding your Marquette ID can be found on the MarquetteCard website.

MarquetteCASH Account

Students may use their identification cards as debit cards to purchase food at on-campus restaurants and vending machines, to make photocopies and to purchase products and services from various areas across campus, including Union Station (post office), the BookMarq (Follett’s Bookstore), the Spirit Shop, the Rec Center, etc. Visit the MarquetteCard website.

Printwise (laser printing)

Assistants receive a $150 allotment per academic year for laser printing at printers in the libraries and computer labs. This amount is valid for fall and spring semesters only. (Non-assistants receive a $14 allotment.) Additional or summer allocations can be requested by a department and paid for via internal order form. Visit the Printwise website for more information.

Book Marq

Assistants receive 10% discounts on all items excluding computer software. The discount does include textbooks. Visit the Book Marq website.

Libraries

Graduate students may take out books from Marquette’s libraries for an entire semester and may reserve study carrels. Teaching assistants may use the library’s reserve desk services. Research assistants, with proper authorization, may take out books and take out interlibrary loans for their research professors.

L.I.M.O. Service

The Division of Public Safety’s Local Intercampus Mobile Operation provides transportation in the evenings on campus and in the near-off-campus areas. The free service is available to students with a valid Marquette ID. L.I.M.O. vans operate from 5 p.m.-3 a.m. seven days a week. The Spirit Shop

Assistants receive 20% discounts on non-sale items (excluding magazines and diploma frames) purchased from the Spirit Shop in the Alumni Memorial Union.

Helfaer Theatre

Discounts on season tickets to student theatrical productions at the Helfaer Theatre are available. For more information, call the theatre box office at (414) 288-7504.

Haggerty Museum of Art

Assistants receive 10% discounts on regular purchases and 30% discounts on catalogs from past exhibitions from the Haggerty Museum of Art gift shop.

Vacation Discounts

Discount membership cards are available at the Human Resources Office for vacation spots such as Disney, Busch Gardens, Six Flags, Universal Studios, Wet N Wild, Weeki Wachee Springs, Sea World and Noah's Ark. Call Human Resources at (414) 288.7305 or visit their website.

Area Merchants

A number of businesses in the near campus area and throughout Milwaukee offer discounts to students with MarquetteCards, including restaurants, hotels, dry cleaners and automobile dealers.

Rental Cars
