Standardized Test Scores

The Graduate School urges applicants to take tests well in advance of the date the scores are needed. It usually takes at least four weeks after the exam for scores to reach the Graduate School office. Test scores should be relatively recent. GRE/GMAT scores more than five years old (two years for TOEFL) will not be accepted.

Regardless of the test, in order to be considered official, all scores must be sent directly from the issuing source to the Graduate School.

One or more of the following tests may be required as part of the admissions process. Consult the information on your program of interest before applying.

Graduate Record Examination

Most graduate programs require a Graduate Record Examination (general test) score. Applicants are urged to complete this test in their senior year of undergraduate work or before filing an application for admission. Some departments may require applicants to take a GRE subject test, which will be listed in the program information.

The GRE is administered by the Educational Testing Service. Test locations can be found on the GRE website.

Marquette University Graduate School's DI Code (Designated Institution) is 1448.

For more information about the GRE, contact the Educational Testing Service, P.O. Box 6000, Princeton, NJ 08541-6000, or by telephone at (609) 771-7670 or (800) 537-3160.

Graduate Management Admission Test

Applications to graduate business programs (MBA, E-MBA, accounting, economics and management) should consult the Graduate School of Management.

Most business programs require the GMAT exam. The Graduate Management Admission Test is administered by the Graduate Management Admission Council, and test locations can be found on the GMAT website.

Some graduate programs will accept the GMAT in lieu of the GRE, which will be listed in the program information.
