Individuals

Volunteering with Hunger Clean-Up is a rewarding experience through which you will build relationships with the Marquette and Milwaukee communities. When you sign up as an individual, we will provide you with a site at which you can volunteer with a group of other Marquette students, experiencing all of what Milwaukee has to offer first-hand.

Teams

Groups volunteering as teams have the opportunity to work together on a service project, strengthening their bonds both with each other and with the members of the Milwaukee community. Teams can consist of coworkers, classmates, student organizations or simply groups of friends, with one individual serving as the team leader. Team Leaders are expected to attend a one-hour training and ensure their teammates have an educational and reflective experience.

Joining us for Lil’ Sibs Weekend? Great! If your big sib is registered for Hunger Clean-Up, you can register too. Just fill out the form below. Don’t forget to also register with Lil' Sibs Weekend! Parents, we will send you a special waiver for your child to participate.

 

Mission and Goals

In line with the mission of Marquette University, Hunger Clean-Up strives to develop strong leaders in society who lead through their service to others. Hunger Clean-Up is a powerful example of Marquette’s commitment to sharing its gifts, resources and talent with the greater Milwaukee community. The work done by Hunger Clean-Up reflects the Jesuit tradition of living out one’s faith through action. The goals of Hunger Clean-Up include:

• To strengthen participants’ exploration and understanding of societal problems, especially the issues of hunger and homelessness
• To work with the community to address both immediate and long-term community needs through direct service and fundraising
• To provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills
• To introduce students to the assets and challenges of the Milwaukee community in which they live
• To instill in students a spirit of service and an opportunity to act upon their faith and values through the service of those most in need
• To build a commitment among participants to engage in further community service
• To reflect on the experience of leadership and service in the light of faith and Ignatian values
