The College of Health Sciences’ Alumni Board is a group of alumni representing the original founding programs of the college: biomedical sciences, clinical laboratory science, dental hygiene, exercise science, physician assistant studies, physical therapy and speech pathology and audiology. The board meets at least four times a year and plans many events for health sciences alumni. This includes a variety of different service and social activities, as well as planning the college’s annual alumni awards brunch and ceremony and, for the first time this year, sponsoring a continuing education course for our alumni.
After more than 100 people registered for the spring dental hygiene continuing education course, the board decided to sponsor a CE course each year for one of the health professions represented in the College of Health Sciences. Proceeds from the courses will go directly to scholarship funds for health sciences students. Spring 2011 will feature continuing education for speech language pathologists.
The board is also starting a new tradition this fall: a White Mass at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Church of the Gesu. The White Mass celebrates the Feast of St. Luke, the patron saint of the medical professions, and is named after the white lab coats worn in the medical field. More information will be posted on the college’s website. All are welcome.
The College of Health Sciences’ Alumni Board is always looking for new members. For more information, please contact Associate Dean Dr. Kim Halula at firstname.lastname@example.org.
