STudent on campus

For those interested in the graduate program:

The history department grants, on average, about eight M.A.s and three Ph.D.s in any given academic year. We offer competitive financial and assistantships to M.A. and Ph.D. students alike; Ph.D. students receive funding to deliver papers at conferences and have the opportunity to teach their own classes. Since 1969, 72 percent of our Ph.D. students have obtained tenure-track or permanent jobs as college or university professors (76 per cent since 2001). Recent graduates are currently on the faculty at Gonzaga, Alverno, Metropolitan State College of Denver, UW-Parkside, UW-Stout, Quincy, Western Illinois, Northern Alabama, Central Oklahoma, Rock Island College, and Robert Morris. Our M.A. students have gone on to work as teachers and administrators, to law school, and to Ph.D. programs at Georgetown, Harvard, UCLA, the University of Illinois, the University of Wisconsin, Boston College, and other top programs around the country.
