Assistant Professor of Spanish

Tara Daly completed her Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures in 2010 at The University of California, Berkeley.  She specializes in contemporary Andean literary and cultural studies. She joined Marquette University’s Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures in 2015 after teaching at The College of William and Mary and Mount Holyoke College.

Her research to date has been on twentieth- and twenty-first century avant-garde movements in Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador, with a particular focus on the relationship between biopolitics, poetry, and performance. She is currently beginning a new research project on comparative colonial studies between the Putumayo region in the Amazon and the Congo River Basin that draws on queer theory and visual culture.
