Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, S.J., Ph.D., was named associate vice president in the Office of the Executive Vice President in August 2012. As a Jesuit priest and a former faculty member at two Catholic, Jesuit universities, Hendrickson’s experience enriches the university’s focus on its mission through both an academic and administrative lens. He also teaches in the College of Education and co-directs the Marquette University Burke Scholars program.

A native of Fremont, Nebraska, Hendrickson entered the Society of Jesus in 1994 and was ordained a priest in 2006.  Hendrickson is a member of the Board of Trustees of Boston College, Creighton University, and Xavier University, as well as St. Francis Mission Foundation of Rosebud, South Dakota.  He is also a member of the National Committee for Justice in Jesuit Higher Education.

Hendrickson previously served as an adjunct instructor of philosophy at Creighton University, a visiting instructor at Jordan University College in Morogoro, Tanzania, and an adjunct professor of philosophy at Fordham University. He has completed several cultural immersion programs, including serving as an adjunct instructor at Creighton University’s Institute for Latin American Concern in Santiago, Dominican Republic, study programs in Ecuador, Greece, and Guatemala, and an inter-religious dialogue program in India.

He earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and theology from Marquette University, a master of arts in philosophical resources from Fordham University, a master of divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology at Santa Clara University, and master of arts and doctor of philosophy degrees from Columbia University.

Hendrickson’s older brother, Dr. Ryan C. Hendrickson, and his wife, Terese, are alumni of Marquette University. His identical twin, Rev. D. Scott Hendrickson, S.J., D.Phil., is an assistant professor of Spanish at Loyola University Chicago.
