History: The Sisters of the Congregation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel came from France and made their first U.S. foundation in New Orleans, 1833. They self-identify with the post-nominal initials, “O.Carm.,” and taught at St. Mary of the Quapaws School (Quapaw), Quapaw, Oklahoma, 1890s-1904.
