History: The Diocese of Cincinnati was erected, 1821, from territory in the Diocese of Bardstown (Louisville, Kentucky), which encompassed most of the Old Northwest Territory. Cincinnati lost its out-of-state territory when the Diocese of Detroit was erected for Michigan and Wisconsin, 1833. Cincinnati reported 200 Native Catholics, 1983. Cincinnati and its U.S. predecessors served the following missions and parishes with Native American parishioners:
