History: The Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis were founded in Germany, 1844, and self-identify with the post-nominal initials, "O.S.F.". They made their first U.S. foundation, 1875, which became its American Province (Springfield, Illinois) that has administered healthcare ministries among Native Americans in the Gallup Diocese of Arizona and New Mexico (e.g. Navajo), 1949-present.
