Describes the department's print and/or microfilm holdings of national Catholic directories for Canada, Mexico, and the United States and Jesuit province catalogs worldwide since the 19th century, which aid in illuminating some Marquette collections, e.g. Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions Records. The Index to the Catholic Directories for the United States with Appended Countries, 1817, 1822, 1833- provides further information and navigational assistance.
Revision in-progress, 2017-; volumes 1 and 5 completed. This Native guide illuminates the content of several Marquette collections, e.g. Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions Records, and provides referrals to other repositories. The entries include contact information and brief descriptions of records and identifies the Native and Catholic groups represented in the records. Where useful, entries also include institutional chronologies that further illuminate the records.
