Online Elsevier Journals

March 31, 2008--Elsevier, the world's largest publisher of scholarly journals, has announced that effective this date, they have discontinued their free Web Editions service.  Until now Web Editions has added free online access to the current year's issues of the Libraries' print subscriptions.  Therefore, the Marquette academic community, largely in the sciences, is losing online access to 230 Elsevier journals.  MARQCAT's Web links have been discontinued.

During the past several years, the Libraries have been working with faculty to migrate as many Elsevier journals as the budget allows to online-only subscriptions under Elsevier's Science Direct service.  Currently over 40 journals are available via Science Direct, but at a cost of 115% of the print subscriptions.  Library faculty representatives and subject librarians are working with all faculty to identify additional journals for priority conversion to online, as well as lesser-used titles which may be retained in print or cancelled.
