
March 2011—Raynor Memorial Libraries announce subscriptions to NAXOS Music
Library and NAXOS Spoken Word Library. Noteworthy features of the services follow.
NAXOS Music Library is an extensive online collection of streaming classical
music, jazz, folk, opera, world, classic rock and other types of music.
- Included are more than 50,000 CD-length recordings with the addition of over 800 CD-length
recordings every month.
- A search engine allows users to select music by composer, artist, period, year of
composition, instrument or genre.
- More than 10,000 composer and artist biographies are included in the database as well as
complete catalogs or selected recordings of over 250 independent labels.
- Other highlights include: music notes, cover artwork, tracklist, instrumentation and
publisher information; libretti and synopses of more than 700 operas; glossary, guide to
musical terms and work analyses; and a pronunciation guide for composer and artist names.
- Marquette's subscription allows up to five simultaneous users.

NAXOS Spoken Word Library is a streaming audiobook database comprised of more
than 750 American classics, German classics, plays, philosophical works, and musical biographies
including notable authors such as Plato, Austen, Bronte, Fitzgerald, Chaucer, Dickens,
Shakespeare, Kafka, Nietzsche, Goethe, and many more. New titles are added monthly and featured
in the "New Releases" tab.
- A search engine allows users to select books by keyword, genre, author, language, or search
famous quote or phrase with text search.
- Many recordings are accompanied by on-screen text, designated by this symbol

- Marquette's subscription allows up to five simultaneous users.
- No minimum user requirements; apps are available for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
