January 2011—New Digital Media Studio
Need to borrow a video camera? iPad? Audio recorder? Digital camera? Want to prepare a video for your class project? Raynor Library's Information Commons now offers new studio workspace, two workstations (PC and Mac), media equipment, as well as training and assistance in the production of digital projects and presentations. The studio, located near the Information Desk (R144A), offers training by appointment.
Some of the projects we can help with include:
*Digital video recording and editing
*Digital audio recording and editing
*Incorporating photos, audio or video into presentations
*Exporting video or audio files to appropriate formats or DVD
Who may use the studio or equipment? The studio and its equipment are for students, both undergraduate and graduate. Users will be asked to show their MarquetteCard ID.
What are the studio hours? The Digital Media Studio is available the same hours as the Information Desk; however, users requesting training should inquire in advance and schedule a consultation appointment.
Can I borrow equipment? Yes, after receiving a short orientation on how to use that equipment and signing an Equipment Use Agreement. Your ID is required every time you borrow. The loan period for cameras, recorders, video recorders, etc., is 3 days; iPads circulate for 1 day (24 hours). Studio equipment may not be scheduled in advance, but a hold may be placed on any piece of equipment.
How do I know what's available? The equipment tabs on the studio's website lead to detailed descriptions of the hardware and software in the studio. You can check equipment availability by viewing the record in MARQCAT
Can someone help me with new equipment? Training is available by appointment and can be scheduled using this online form for a media consultation.
